We are a small, home-based breeder of high quality miniature multigenerational Australian Labradoodles. Our breeding mom, Amore, is also our family pet who plays with the children, romps through the forest (under supervision, of course!), and is generally well-loved. Though we have a small yard, we live close to parks and an urban forest where Amore loves to run and play.
The miniature Australian Labradoodle is well suited to city life, even life in an apartment or house with a small yard. This size of Labradoodle stands about 35cm to 42cm (14” to 16”) tall at the shoulder when full grown and should weigh between 7 and 11 kg (15 to 25 pounds). As a breed, Labradoodles are gentle, friendly, affectionate and adaptable. They don’t require huge amounts of activity and are very tolerant with small children. This makes them ideal family pets.
Australian Labradoodles are also well known for being very low shedding or non-shedding dogs. This is what contributes to their reputation as an "allergy-friendly" dog. Though it is actually the dander (skin flakes) and proteins found in the saliva and skin that cause dog allergies, not the hair itself, these two substances are commonly found on the hairs that dogs shed (saliva proteins get onto the hairs when the dogs lick themselves). Thus, a dog that sheds very little will not aggravate allergies to the same extent as a dog that sheds a lot, as there will be less dog hair in the environment and thus lower amounts of the offending skin and saliva proteins. Dogs with undercoats (i.e., short, thick hair under a layer of long, coarse hair) tend to shed a lot. Australian Labradoodles do not have an undercoat. This, along with the type of coat (wavy "fleece" or tightly curled "wool"), is what makes the Australian Labradoodle generally very compatible with most asthma and allergy sufferers.
DragonRam is an accredited member of the Australian Labradoodles Association of America (ALAA). We have received Silver and Golden Paw breeder status, based on the level of health testing done on our breeding Mom, Amore.
